Since 2019, Marc Kolor – a manufacturer of professional hair colour charts used by brands and hairdressers worldwide – has been actively monitoring its greenhouse gas emissions in partnership with Envirly. For us, this is not just an environmental duty, but a tangible commitment that proves global production can go hand in hand with care for the planet.

What is a carbon footprint?
A carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gases (GHG) emitted directly or indirectly as a result of an organisation’s activities. Understanding our own carbon footprint is the first step towards consciously reducing environmental impact and implementing sustainable solutions.
Why does it matter?
For us, ecology is not a trend – it’s a responsibility. The environmental awareness of our clients and business partners motivates us to constantly seek ways to minimise our impact on the climate. By monitoring our carbon footprint, we can identify the areas that require change and introduce improvements effectively.
How does it work?
Greenhouse gas emissions are calculated according to the international GHG Protocol, which divides emissions into three scopes:
Scope 1 – direct emissions (e.g. fuel combustion in company vehicles, technological processes),
Scope 2 – indirect emissions (e.g. purchased electricity, heat, or cooling), Scope 3 – other indirect emissions from external activities (e.g. transport, deliveries, business travel, production of purchased materials).

How do we collect data?
- Fuel consumption data is collected using DKV fuel cards,
- Energy and waste data are analysed based on invoices,
- Transport emissions are monitored through reports from companies such as DHL Express and FedEx,
- Since 2024, we have implemented an electronic document circulation (EOD) system, significantly reducing paper use,
- We have limited business trips, replacing them with video conferences,
- We also assess employee commuting and business travel through staff surveys.
Our results
Since we started monitoring, we have achieved a remarkable improvement:
Total emissions decreased from 182.435 t CO₂eq in 2019 to 73.731 t CO₂eq in 2024.
This is clear proof that consistency and responsible decisions bring real, measurable results.
We’re eagerly awaiting the report for 2025 – to see how our latest initiatives (such as automated motorway tolls and digital documentation) have contributed to further emission reductions.
Sustainability is our future
At Marc Kolor, we believe that every change – even the smallest one – matters. We strive to make our production processes increasingly environmentally friendly, and our products a benchmark of modern, responsible craftsmanship.
